About the Luxembourg Variant
Crypto Stamp 2.0 - Dragon is POST Luxembourg's second crypto stamp after Cryptostamp 1.0 - Lion (2023). POST Luxembourg participates in joint editions rather than issuing solo editions.
The Crypto Stamp 2.0 naming follows the LU catalog perspective: it is the second LU crypto stamp, with no reference to the joint numbering by Österreichische Post (CS 5.2), PostNL (NL Crypto Stamp 3), or bpost (Belgium's first). Each postal service maintains its own catalog tradition.
Heraldic Significance
Unlike the Lion edition, where the Red Lion has been part of Luxembourg heraldry since the 13th century, the dragon has no national symbolism in Luxembourg. The dragon motif is shared across AT/NL/LU/BE as a universal symbol in European mythology and fantasy culture, with no heraldic association to any of the four participating countries.
Design Specifics
Designer Lisa Filzi created individual dragons for each of the four participating countries — each with distinct pose, coloring, and layout. The LU variant shows a Luxembourg-specific dragon. The rainbow foil effect and reflective eye appear across all four national variants.
On the reverse of the stamp block, the unicorn logo of the Crypto Stamp brand appears as the shared emblem of all joint partners.
Pre-Presentation in Arlon
The pre-presentation of the Crypto Stamp Dragon took place on 19 October 2024 at the Maison de la Culture d'Arlon (Parc des Expositions 1, 6700 Arlon) — two days before the official release date. The pre-presentation ran in two time slots: 10:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 17:00.
Arlon is located in the Greater Region (Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France). The choice of Arlon reflects the geographic proximity of Luxembourg and Belgium, which participated together in this joint edition.
