Split-Halves

A crypto stamp motif split into two halves — each half is its own collector component, both united yield the full image or NFT. First applied in CHLI 2.0 (2025).

What Is Split-Halves?

Split-Halves is a collector mechanic in which a crypto stamp motif is divided into two halves — each half is an independent collector component, both united yield the complete image or NFT. It is a deliberate cross-country union logic — typically emitted between two closely connected postal services.

First Application: CHLI 2.0 (19.11.2025)

The Swiss-Liechtenstein CHLI 2.0 Joint Edition of 19 November 2025 is the archetypal application of the Split-Halves mechanic:

  • Swiss Post: emits one half of the motif
  • Liechtenstein Post: emits the other half
  • United together: they form a complete image

The collector needs both variants (CH + LI) to own the complete motif.

Halving Mechanic with Tiered-by-Color

CHLI 2.0 combines Split-Halves with Tiered-by-Color:

  • CHF 9.90 green — standard variant, common
  • CHF 499 rainbow — premium variant, very rare

This double-layer mechanic (Split-Halves + Tiered-by-Color) makes CHLI 2.0 one of the structurally most complex crypto stamp editions.

Functional Logic

  1. Component purchase: Collector buys the CH variant AND the LI variant separately
  2. Visual unification: physical stamps can be physically aligned — complete motif appears
  3. NFT logic: each half has its own NFT on the blockchain
  4. Collector value: only collectors of both halves have the complete set

Strategic Significance

Split-Halves has clear strategic functions:

  • Cross-border collecting: collectors are guided to both national postal services
  • Bilateral symbolism: Switzerland and Liechtenstein have close historical relations
  • Premium differentiation: only collectors of both halves own the complete motif
  • Marketing cohesion: joint marketing campaign of the two postal services

CHLI as Bilateral Format

The Swiss-Liechtenstein crypto stamp family uses several bilateral formats:

  • CHLI 1.0 (04.06.2025): standard bilateral
  • CHLI 2.0 (19.11.2025): Split-Halves with Tiered-by-Color — structurally more complex
  • Liechtenstein Weitblick 2021 (06.09.2021): first crypto stamp with SQR code, predecessor edition

Significance

Split-Halves is one of the structurally original mechanics of the crypto stamp world — it uses the physical-digital dual nature of the crypto stamp to create a cross-country union symbolism. The Switzerland-Liechtenstein relationship is translated into stamp format: two halves that together yield more than their sum.

It demonstrates that the crypto stamp format can develop regional, narrative depth — beyond the purely technical NFT mechanic.
