Emirates Post Group (EPG)
Emirates Post Group (EPG) is the state postal administration of the United Arab Emirates. EPG issued the first NFT stamps of the Gulf region on 2 December 2021 for the 50th National Day of the UAE (Golden Jubilee). CEO: Abdulla Mohammed Al Ashram (since 2017). The first stamp in the region was issued 1961 in Dubai under the Trucial States. The NFT stamps use the Polygon blockchain (Ethereum Layer-2) and combine an NFC chip (13.56 MHz, ISO 14443) with QR code for double authentication. Each NFT stamp has a built-in wallet with its own seed phrase, requiring no Web3 experience. Format: credit-card-sized PVC card with 5 layers. Platforms: epgnft.ae (NFT platform) and emiratespostshop.ae (sales). Single edition to date (Golden Jubilee 2021).

NFC + QR Code: Double Authentication
EPG stamps use a double authentication mechanic:
NFC Chip (Anti-Counterfeit Layer)
- 13.56 MHz frequency, ISO 14443 standard
- Embedded in PVC card
- Smartphone NFC reader communicates with chip
- Checks physical authenticity of the card
- Anti-counterfeit: fake cards without valid chip are detected
QR Code (Digital Twin Activation)
- Standard QR code on front
- Leads to EPG platform with digital NFT
- Enables NFT transfer to user wallet
This double mechanic is structurally innovative in the crypto stamp space — other issuers mostly use only QR code (AT, HR, UN, PL) or scratch-off (UN).
Built-in Wallet per Stamp
A Web3 onboarding innovation of EPG:
| Option | Workflow |
|---|---|
| Built-in wallet | Card has own seed phrase. Ready to use immediately. Ideal for Web3 beginners. |
| MetaMask import | User scans card, imports seed phrase to MetaMask. Standard for Web3 users. |
Advantages:
- Web3 newbies don't need prior wallet setup
- Card can be gifted with embedded wallet
- Significantly lowers Web3 entry barriers
This "wallet-in-the-card" innovation is structurally unique in the crypto stamp space and makes EPG the Web3 onboarding pioneer of the industry.
Premium Card Format
EPG uses no classical stamp format, but credit-card-sized PVC cards:
- 5-layer PVC construction (high-quality)
- Embedded NFC chip
- QR code on front
- Security sticker on back hides seed phrase
- Premium collector optics
Comparison:
| Issuer | Format |
|---|---|
| AT/HR/UN/PL/etc. | Classical stamp sheets or mini-sheets |
| EPG | Credit-card PVC with NFC |
| LI Stamp 4.0 | Classical stamp sheets + augmented reality |
EPG format is structurally different and targets modern collectors with tech affinity.
Theme: UAE Identity and Vision of the Future
The 4 stamps of the Golden Jubilee edition have chronological theme structure:
| # | Theme | Time reference | Significance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Golden Jubilee 2021 | 2021 | Premium edition with gold bar |
| 2 | Spirit of the Union — 1971 | 1971 | UAE founding (past) |
| 3 | Year of the 50th — 2021 | 2021 | 50th anniversary (present) |
| 4 | Projects of the 50th — 2071 | 2071 | UAE vision of the future (100th anniversary) |
Story arc: Past (1971) → Present (2021) → Future (2071) — a strategic vision narrative of the UAE.
Strategic Single-Drop Question
EPG has launched no further crypto stamps since December 2021. Possible reasons:
- Premium strategy: Single edition with high attention instead of continuous drops
- Single occasion: 50th UAE National Day was a unique trigger
- Re-strategy in planning: Follow-up editions possibly expected for later jubilees
- Market reaction: Possible lack of strong community demand led to the pause
So far unclear — wiki documents status as "currently not active, but not ended".
Significance in the Wiki
EPG is structurally central in the wiki as:
- Pioneer of the Gulf region and the Middle East
- NFC + QR code double activation as tech innovation
- Built-in wallet per stamp as Web3 onboarding innovation
- Credit card PVC format as alternative card format
- Gold bar lamination in premium edition (structurally unique)
- Single-drop strategy as alternative to continuous programme logic
- UAE vision of the future theme (1971-2021-2071 story arc)
EPG extends the wiki coverage with the previously missing Middle East region and establishes several tech innovations in the crypto stamp space.

Frequently Asked Questions
What distinguishes EPG from other crypto stamp issuers?
Several structural distinctions: (1) Gulf region pioneer: First NFT stamps of the Middle East (02.12.2021). (2) NFC + QR code double activation: Built-in 13.56 MHz NFC chip + QR code for double authenticity — anti-counterfeiting innovation versus pure QR code systems. (3) Built-in wallet per stamp: Each card has own seed phrase, so Web3 beginners can start immediately (no MetaMask setup needed before activation). (4) Premium card format: Credit-card-sized PVC with 5 layers — collector premium versus traditional stamp sheets. (5) Gold bar lamination: Premium edition with real 1g gold bar laminated in the card — structurally unique in the crypto stamp space. (6) Single-drop strategy: Unlike continuous programmes (AT, HR, PL), EPG has launched only one edition — strategy still unclear.
How does NFC + QR code double activation work?
Workflow in 4 steps: (1) Buy physical stamp card: Credit-card-sized PVC card with embedded NFC chip and QR code. (2) NFC authentication: Hold smartphone to card — NFC chip communicates with smartphone NFC reader, checks physical authenticity. (3) QR code scan: QR code on front leads to EPG platform with the digital NFT. (4) Wallet connection or built-in wallet: Options: (a) If user already has wallet (MetaMask): reveal seed phrase under security sticker on back, import to wallet, NFT transfer. (b) If user has no wallet: use built-in wallet of card — each card has own seed phrase, ready to use immediately. This NFC innovation is a real anti-counterfeit measure: fake cards without valid NFC chip are directly recognized.
