Croatian postal crypto stamps, second in Europe after Austria · 2020

Postereum — Hrvatska Pošta Crypto Stamp Programme

Postereum is the crypto stamp programme of Hrvatska pošta (Croatian Post), launched on 7 September 2020 as the second European postal operator after Österreichische Post. By May 2026 seven numbered editions have appeared — from Postereum 1 (a Penny Black tribute for the 180-year anniversary) through Rimac Nevera (2021), Nikola Tesla (2022), Balthazar (2023), and Hlapić (2024) to Football Legends (2025). The programme is characterised by a consistent design line from the Vučić/Kaćunić studio and made the platform switch from Ethereum (NodeFactory) to Polygon (Marrow Labs / OpenSea Shared Storefront) with CS4 (Tesla) at the end of 2022 — structurally comparable to the AT Post move from CS 1.0 to CS 2.0.

What is Postereum?

Postereum is the umbrella name for the crypto stamp programme of Hrvatska pošta (Croatian Post). It was launched on 7 September 2020 with a Penny Black tribute, making Hrvatska pošta the second European postal operator to issue a crypto stamp — only six months after the world-first Austrian "Crypto stamp 1.0" (June 2019).

Design Studio: Vučić × Kaćunić

What sets Postereum apart from many other national crypto stamp programmes is its consistent design authorship. All editions to date have been designed by the Zagreb studio of Ivana Vučić and Tomislav-Jurica Kaćunić — the same studio that designed numerous traditional Croatian stamp issues. This gives the entire series a coherent visual signature, a contrast to programmes like USPS Stamp Art where each issue features a different illustrator.

Tech Partnership: BitX with Two Backend Generations

The programme was built in partnership with BitX, a Croatian crypto consultancy led by Vlaho Hrdalo (chair of the Blockchain & Cryptocurrency Association Croatia, UBIK). BitX has provided continuity across two distinct backend generations:

Generation 1CS1 (2020), CS2 (2020), CS3 (2021)NodeFactory (Zagreb)Ethereum
Generation 2CS4 (2022) onwardsMarrow LabsPolygon

The platform switch took place with CS4 — Nikola Tesla (December 2022) and parallels the Austrian move from CS 1.0 (Ethereum) to CS 2.0 (Polygon) two years earlier.

Edition Highlights

  • CS1 — Postereum 1 (07.09.2020): 180-year anniversary of the Penny Black, structured as a homage to the world's first stamp
  • CS2 — Postereum 2 (15.12.2020): Postal items history motif
  • CS3 — Rimac Nevera (09.09.2021): Croatian electric hypercar — last edition on Ethereum
  • CS4 — Nikola Tesla (20.12.2022): First edition on Polygon, OpenSea Shared Storefront
  • CS5 — Balthazar (2023): Children's book character
  • CS6 — Hlapić (2024): "The Brave Adventures of a Little Shoemaker"
  • CS7 — Football Legends (2025): Croatian football heritage

Significance

Postereum sits in a small group of "Year-2 programmes" — national crypto stamp lines that started right after the Austrian original and helped establish the format internationally. Its longevity (six years, seven editions, two backend generations) and design consistency make it one of the most studied non-AT programmes in the philatelic crypto-stamp ecosystem.
